Samuel Warren donates his statuary collection to the Museum of Fine Arts.

The collection of Greek terra cotta-statues are the first original, classical sculptures acquired by the museum. According to Walter Muir Whitehill, “[They] routed the plaster casts that had seemed so all-important in the museum’s first decade.”
